ERP for fashion and apparel retail

Apparel21 ERP Integration Services

Apparel21 is an ERP built for the way fashion and apparel businesses actually trade: ranges and seasons, size and colour matrices, stock spread across warehouses and stores, and a point of sale that has to stay aligned with what is selling online. Fontis connects AP21 to your ecommerce platform, marketing tools, and the other systems your teams depend on, so one operational picture holds across every channel.
Built for Fashion Retail

What Apparel21 Handles Well

General-purpose ERPs treat apparel as an awkward special case. Apparel21 was built around it, which is why so much of its functionality maps directly onto how fashion businesses plan, buy and trade.

Fashion Product Structure

Style, colour and size matrices are first-class concepts, not generic variants forced into shape with custom attributes. Ranging and seasonal turnover are built into the product model.

Multi-Location Inventory

Warehouse and store stock sit in one picture. Allocation rules, transfers and replenishment are handled as operational processes, with the audit trail that implies.

Store and Point of Sale Context

In-store trade is recorded against the same stock and customer records as the rest of the business. Store fulfilment and click and collect both depend on that, because each needs store-level figures the online channel can rely on.

Operational Reporting

Purchasing, allocation, sell-through and margin reporting are written for merchandisers and planners, giving buying teams the view they need without a separate reporting stack.

Integration Services

What Fontis Builds Around It

AP21 holds the operational truth. The value comes from getting that truth into the systems your customers and campaigns touch, accurately and on time.

Ecommerce Platform Integration

Products, inventory, orders, customers, fulfilment statuses and product images move between AP21 and your storefront, with the direction of every flow settled during design and written down.

Marketing Platform Sync

Customer profiles held in AP21 connect to Klaviyo, Emarsys or whichever platform your marketing team uses, with the fields that travel and how often they sync settled during design.

Loyalty and Rewards

Where AP21 runs your loyalty program, we connect it to the online channel, with how accrual and redemption work online agreed during design.

Adjacent Systems

PIM, warehouse management, freight and finance systems connect to the same integration layer, which avoids a separate point-to-point connection accumulating behind every new tool.

Our Approach

The decisions that determine whether an AP21 integration holds up

Which system owns what has to be settled before anything is built. AP21 holds products, inventory, fulfilment status and operational reporting; the ecommerce platform holds customer experience, checkout and customer-facing communication. Leave that boundary undefined and bi-directional updates overwrite each other, with the mismatch only becoming visible months later when a customer complains.

Publishing the wrong quantity is what causes most overselling. On-hand stock reaches the storefront when available-to-promise was the figure that mattered, with no account taken of committed store allocations, in-transit transfers and returns still being processed. Making those rules explicit and testable is most of the work in getting inventory right.

Ingesting an order is the easy part. Carrying it through partial fulfilments, exchanges, cancellations and refunds without finance untangling the result by hand takes real design, and so does failure handling. Retries, idempotency, reconciliation jobs and alerting belong in the first version, because if a sync stops at 2am and nobody is told, the stock figures have already drifted by the time anyone looks.

Working With Your Team

Where We Fit

An integration keeps running long after the build is signed off, so support and change management matter as much as delivery. These are the engagements we take on.

New Integrations

Discovery through to production for retailers connecting AP21 to a new or replatformed storefront, including the inventory and order lifecycle rules that the build depends on.

Replacing What Exists

Assessment and migration away from an in-house script or an off-the-shelf connector that has stopped keeping up, planned so the cutover does not interrupt trade.

Ongoing Support

Monitoring, reconciliation and change management for an integration already in production, including AP21 and platform version upgrades.

FAQ

Apparel21 Integration Questions

What retail and technology leaders ask us when they are scoping AP21 integration work.

Which ecommerce platforms do you integrate Apparel21 with?

Most of our AP21 work connects to Shopify, where we run a dedicated Shopify Apparel21 integration service on a monthly subscription with cloud hosting included. AP21 also fits behind Fontis Commerce Stack, our composable commerce solution, where the ERP connection is designed in from the start instead of bolted onto a finished storefront. Beyond that the approach is not platform-specific, and the same architecture applies to Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce and any platform with a usable API.

Should Apparel21 or our ecommerce platform be the source of truth?

In nearly every fashion retail setup, AP21 is the system of record for products, SKUs, inventory, fulfilment status and financial reporting, while the ecommerce platform owns customer experience, checkout and frontend merchandising. What matters more than the exact split is that it is defined explicitly, because most integration failures trace back to an ownership boundary nobody wrote down.

Do we need real-time inventory sync?

Not universally. High-velocity SKUs, promotional lines and store-fulfilled orders usually need near real-time updates to avoid overselling; slower-moving stock is often fine on a schedule. The target is predictable behaviour under load rather than zero delay, because peak trading creates bursts that a steady-state design will not absorb.

Can you take over an integration someone else built?

Yes. We assess the existing setup, document what it does and where it breaks, and plan either remediation or replacement from there. Coming in cold to an undocumented integration is common in this work.

What does the AP21 version we run affect?

Your version, how AP21 is hosted and which modules you licence all affect which APIs are available. Some installations expose everything an integration needs through documented interfaces; others need scheduled extracts or a database-level read for particular flows. Sites that have been trading for a decade also tend to carry local modifications, and those are often where the business logic that matters actually lives. None of that is a problem, but it changes the scope, so we assess it before quoting rather than after. If you are unsure what your setup supports, raise it during the consultation.
